Chronic myeloid leukemia in the elderly
Chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) is an acquired malignant clonal disease of hematopoietic stem cells that occurs frequently in middle-aged people. It mainly involves the myeloid system and is characterized by a persistent and progressive increase in the number of peripheral blood leukocytes and splenomegaly. The course of the disease is relatively slow, and most patients die of acute transformation.
