Congenital cystic dilatation of intrahepatic bile duct
Congenital cystic dilatation of intrahepatic bile duct is also known as communicating cystic dilatation of intrahepatic bile duct and Caroli disease. In 1958, French scholar Caroli described in detail the multiple cystic dilatations of intrahepatic bile ducts communicating with the biliary system. The lesion range mainly involves the hepatic bile duct, which can be a segment, a local area, a lobe or bilateral intrahepatic bile duct. Since then, scholars at home and abroad have defined it as Caroli disease.
