Edwards syndrome in children
Edwards syndrome, also known as trisomy 18 syndrome, is a genetic disorder discovered by Edwards et al. in 1960. It is caused by the presence of a third chromosome in the eighteenth chromosome in the cells of a fetus or infant. Children with this syndrome have external and internal malformations such as a prominent occipital bone, low-set ears, small eyes, and congenital heart disease.
