Atrophic pharyngitis
Atrophic pharyngitis is often secondary to atrophic rhinitis, and the cause is unknown. The main pathological changes are atrophy of the pharyngeal glands and mucosa. Initially, the secretion of the mucous glands decreases, and the secretions are viscous. Then, due to the inflammation of the submucosal layer, it gradually becomes organized and contracted, compressing the mucous glands and blood vessels, hindering the glandular secretion and nutrient supply, causing the mucosal layer and submucosal layer to atrophy and become thinner. The disease is long-lasting and difficult to cure.
