Hyperthyroidism in the elderly
Hyperthyroidism, also known as hyperthyroidism, is a common endocrine disease caused by increased synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland. It can occur at any age. The prevalence of hyperthyroidism in the elderly is about 0.4% to 2.3%, accounting for about 10% to 15% of all hyperthyroid patients, and is higher in women than in men. Indication: Antithyroid drugs. Suitable for various types of hyperthyroidism, especially for: ① patients with mild disease and mild to moderate thyroid enlargement ② adolescents, children and elderly patients ③ patients with recurrence after thyroid surgery who are not suitable for radioactive 131I treatment ④ preoperative preparation ⑤ as an adjuvant treatment for 131I radiotherapy.
