Femoral hernia
Femoral hernia refers to a hernia in which an organ or tissue protrudes into the femoral canal through the femoral ring and then protrudes into the oval fossa through the femoral canal. In other words, the hernia sac protrudes into the oval fossa through the femoral ring and the femoral canal. Femoral hernia is the lowest-incidence type of inguinal hernia, accounting for about 3% to 5% of extra-abdominal hernias. Since femoral hernia has a relatively high incidence of incarceration/strangulation and intestinal resection, delayed treatment will increase the mortality rate, especially in elderly patients. Therefore, surgical treatment is the only effective method for femoral hernia.
