Interdigital neuralgia
Neuralgia or benign neuromas can occur in any of the interdigital nerves, which run beneath the toes and between the metatarsals, over the ball of the foot, and distally to innervate the toes. The third interdigital nerve, which is formed by branches of the medial and lateral plantar nerves, is where neuromas (Morton neuromas) often form. Unilateral neuromas are more common than bilateral neuromas, and they occur more often in women than in men.
