Stress Urinary Incontinence
The International Continence Society (ICS) defines stress incontinence as: a sudden increase in abdominal pressure leading to involuntary urine outflow, not caused by detrusor contraction pressure or bladder wall tension on urine. Its characteristic is that there is no enuresis under normal conditions, but urine flows out automatically when abdominal pressure suddenly increases. For example, urine leaks out of the urethra involuntarily when coughing, laughing, sneezing, jumping, or lifting heavy objects.
