Pseudomembranous enterocolitis in the elderly
Clostridium difficile colitis is an enteritis caused by the massive growth of Clostridium difficile in the intestines due to the imbalance of intestinal flora caused by the use of antibiotics. In severe cases, flakes of mucosa are excreted in the stool, which was once called pseudomembranous colitis. This disease is increasing due to the widespread use of antibiotics, and is also called antibiotic-associated enteritis. It is a common nosocomial infectious disease.
