Goodpasture's syndrome
Goodpasture-nephritis syndrome may be caused by viral infection and/or inhalation of certain chemicals, which may cause primary lung damage. Since there are cross-reactive antigens in the alveolar capillary basement membrane and the glomerular basement membrane, secondary renal damage may occur. This disease is more common in young men, with a male-to-female ratio of 9:1. Patients under 16 years old are rare.
