Cysticercosis (also known as pork cysticercosis) is a disease caused by the larvae of pork tapeworm parasitizing various tissues and organs of the human body. Cysticercosis is an endogenous autoinfection of patients with pork tapeworms or when people eat water and food contaminated with pork tapeworm eggs. The eggs enter the stomach and small intestine through oral infection. After being acted upon by digestive juices, the six-necked larvae are released, pass through the blood vessels of the intestinal wall, and spread throughout the body through the blood circulation. They parasitize in the subcutaneous tissue, muscles and central nervous system of the human body, and develop into cysticercosis, which is called cysticercosis. Among them, brain cysticercosis is the most serious. The life span of cysticercus can be as long as ten years. Therefore, early diagnosis and early treatment are necessary to reduce the occurrence of complications.
