Visceral larva migrans syndrome is Loffler syndrome, also known as simple eosinophilic pulmonary infiltration (PIE). It is a pulmonary allergic syndrome. Mild cases are characterized by no fever or mild fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, night sweats, and mild dry cough. Severe cases may include high fever, paroxysmal cough, sputum, hemoptysis, and dyspnea. Auscultation of the lungs may reveal wheezing or moist rales; percussion may sometimes produce dullness. Young children often have an enlarged liver.
