Renal arteriovenous fistula
This disease is rare. There are many communicating branches between the main trunks or segments of the renal arteries and veins, like varicose veins. There are two types of arteriovenous fistulas: congenital and acquired. The latter accounts for less than 25% of patients. Here we mainly discuss congenital arteriovenous fistulas. Acquired arteriovenous fistulas can be secondary to trauma, arteriosclerosis, tumors and renal biopsy.
