Cecal volvulus
Cecal volvulus refers to the twisting of the ileocecal intestinal loop. The normal cecum is attached to the posterior abdominal wall and will not twist. Cecal volvulus only occurs secondary to a mobile cecum. As the cecum twists, the ileum and ascending colon nearby twist at the same time, which is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction, accounting for about 1% of intestinal obstruction. Cecal volvulus is a closed loop intestinal obstruction, which can cause intestinal blood circulation disorders at an early stage, so it is more dangerous, and acute volvulus without surgery is almost 100% fatal.
