Optic disc edema
Optic disc edema is manifested by blurred optic disc margins, reddened optic disc, and venous tortuosity in severe cases. The optic nerve and surrounding blood vessels cannot be seen clearly due to severe edema. Sometimes there are patches of hemorrhage or exudate around the optic disc. Optic disc atrophy occurs in the late stage of optic disc edema. Optic disc edema is a common clinical sign, mainly caused by increased intracranial pressure, and has important clinical significance.
