Peritoneal carcinomatosis
Peritoneal metastatic carcinoma is common in clinical practice and is caused by the metastasis of cancer cells to the peritoneum through the blood or direct implantation and growth of the peritoneum. It is often secondary to intra-abdominal cancers of the liver, stomach, colon, pancreas, ovary, uterus and retroperitoneal malignancies. It can also be secondary to tumors of the lungs, brain, bones, nasopharynx and skin melanoma.
