Brain stem injury
Brainstem injury refers to damage to the midbrain, pons and medulla oblongata. It is a serious craniocerebral injury and is often divided into two types: primary brainstem injury, which is caused by direct external violence; and secondary brainstem injury, which occurs after other serious brain injuries and is caused by brain herniation or cerebral edema.
