Congenital pulmonary arteriovenous fistula
Congenital pulmonary arteriovenous fistula (PAVF), also known as arteriovenous aneurysm, is a common congenital developmental malformation. The capillary anastomosis between the arteries and veins of the pulmonary circulation expands during the embryonic period, forming abnormal communication between the pulmonary arteries and veins. About 1/3 of patients present with multiple lesions in the lungs, which is a dominant inheritance. Patients and their families often have hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, such as skin, mucous membranes, etc., and can also affect the gastrointestinal tract, also known as Rendu-Osler-Weber disease.
