This product is a smoking cessation drug. The main pharmacological effect of its active ingredient nicotine is to stimulate the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, thereby producing corresponding cardiovascular effects, such as increasing blood pressure and heart rate. Nicotine can also produce cholinergic effects, thereby stimulating the central nervous system, relaxing skeletal muscles, promoting gastrointestinal motility and secreting digestive juices. After using nicotine transdermal patches (20cm2) overnight without eating, smokers who quit smoking can cause a slight increase in average heart rate (increase of 6 times/minute), a slight increase in systolic blood pressure and a decrease in stroke volume. After patients repeatedly use nicotine transdermal patches for 10 days, such changes in heart rate and stroke volume still exist, indicating that patients have not completely tolerated the effects of nicotine. However, its effect is weaker than smoking, and compared with the placebo control group, the skin temperature and blood flow of patients using this product have not changed. This product is a round patch with a backing. The backing is square and shiny on both sides. After removing the backing, a uniform, nearly colorless sticky surface can be seen. Apply one tablet of this product once a day and keep it for 24 hours. Precautions for children: Nicotine is a highly toxic substance. The dose that adults can tolerate during treatment can cause serious poisoning symptoms in children. In other words, if not promptly noted, children's misuse of this product may be fatal. Therefore, this product must be kept out of reach of children. In order to protect children, this product is sealed in a small bag that children cannot tear open. Cut the small bag with scissors before use, and be careful not to damage the nicotine transdermal patch inside. The transdermal patch still contains nicotine after use, so it should be properly handled to prevent it from being exposed to children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: It is forbidden for pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: No effect.

The enzyme induction observed in smokers is not caused by nicotine but by tar compounds in tobacco smoke. This means that after cessation of smoking, although nicotine may be replaced by the drug, changes in metabolism and pharmacological effects of the co-administered medication may occur (normalization). Smoking reduces serum concentrations of certain drugs, such as antipyrine, estrogens, nordiazepam, lidocaine, oxazepam, warfarin, phenacetin, caffeine, theophylline, imipramine, and pentazocine. Effects of smoking include reduced analgesia of propranolol, reduced diuretic effect of furosemide, altered pharmacodynamic response to propranolol, and reduced cure rate of ulcers treated with H2-receptor antagonists.
