Function and Efficacy
Cinnabar is sweet, cold and heavy in nature. It specifically enters the heart meridian. It can clear away heat when it is cold. Gypsum can relieve muscles, clear away heat, relieve restlessness and quench thirst. Fritillaria cirrhosa is bitter and sweet in taste and slightly cold in nature. It enters the lung and heart meridians. It is moist and dispersing in nature, and can descend and slightly rise. It has the effects of clearing away heat and resolving phlegm, moistening the lungs and relieving cough, dispersing nodules and reducing swelling. It is mainly used to treat chronic cough due to deficiency, dry cough due to lung heat, lung abscess with pus vomiting, scrofula and tuberculosis, mastitis, and sores.
