Artificial Bezoar Metronidazole Capsules
Function and Efficacy
Metronidazole has a strong antibacterial effect on most anaerobic bacteria. The antibacterial spectrum includes Bacteroides fragilis and other Bacteroides, Bacillus ferrugide, Bacillus aeruginosa, Eubacterium, Veillonella, Peptococcus, and Peptostreptococcus. Its bactericidal concentration is slightly higher than the inhibitory concentration. The bactericidal mechanism of metronidazole has not been fully elucidated. The nitroreductase of anaerobic bacteria plays an important role in the energy metabolism of sensitive strains. The nitro reduction of this product is a cytotoxin, which acts on the DNA metabolism process of the cell and promotes the death of bacteria. Resistant bacteria often lack nitroreductase and are therefore resistant to metronidazole. Artificial bezoar has antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects.

In some cases, long-term use of the drug may cause persistent peripheral neuropathy. 2. Other common adverse reactions include: (1) Gastrointestinal reactions, such as nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, taste changes, dry mouth, metallic taste in the mouth, etc. (2) Reversible neutropenia. (3) Allergic reactions, rash, urticaria, itching, etc. (4) Central nervous system symptoms, such as headache, dizziness, syncope, paresthesia, limb numbness, ataxia and mental confusion, etc. (5) Others include fever, vaginal candidiasis, cystitis, difficulty urinating, dark urine color, etc., which are all reversible and will recover on their own after stopping the drug.

Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Children should use it with caution and in reduced dosage. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Metronidazole can pass through the placenta and quickly enter the fetal circulation. Animal experiments have found that oral administration is non-toxic to the fetus. There is no sufficient and strict control observation of the effect of metronidazole on the fetus, so pregnant women are prohibited from using it. The concentration of metronidazole in breast milk is similar to that in blood. Animal experiments have shown that this product has a carcinogenic effect on young children, so it is not suitable for breastfeeding women. If the drug must be used, breastfeeding should be interrupted, and breastfeeding can be resumed 24 to 48 hours after the end of the treatment course. Precautions for the elderly: Due to decreased liver function in the elderly, the pharmacokinetics of this product are changed when using it, and the blood concentration needs to be monitored.
Drug Interactions
1. Metronidazole can inhibit the metabolism of warfarin and other oral anticoagulants, enhance their effects, and cause the prothrombin time to be prolonged. 2. When used in combination with drugs that induce liver microsomal enzymes, such as phenytoin sodium and phenobarbital, the metabolism of this product can be enhanced, the blood drug concentration can be reduced, and the excretion of phenytoin sodium can be slowed down. 3. When used in combination with drugs that inhibit the activity of liver microsomal enzymes, such as cimetidine, the metabolism and excretion of this product in the liver can be slowed down, and the blood elimination half-life of this product (t1/2beta;) can be prolonged. The dosage should be adjusted according to the results of blood drug concentration determination. 4. This product can interfere with the metabolism of disulfiram. When the two are used together, patients may experience mental symptoms after drinking. Therefore, patients who have used disulfiram within 2 weeks should not use this product again. 5. This product can interfere with the results of serum aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase determinations, and can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
