Function and Efficacy

It can relax the smooth muscle of arterioles, dilate blood vessels, reduce peripheral resistance, lower blood pressure, and counteract the vasoconstriction effect of various substances. It can reflexively increase heart rate and cardiac output, while the blood flow of the brain, kidneys, and coronary arteries remains unchanged. It can cause an increase in plasma renin activity, affecting the antihypertensive effect. It can inhibit the secretion of insulin by pancreatic beta cells and increase blood sugar concentration.

Indication

First aid for hypertensive crisis, also used for elevated blood sugar, idiopathic hypoglycemia in young children, and severe hypoglycemia caused by pancreatic islet cell tumors.

Usage and Dosage

Rapid intravenous injection: 200-400 mg per time, which should be completed within 15-20 seconds. In case of emergency treatment of hypertension crisis, another injection can be given within 0.5-3 hours, and the total daily dose should not exceed 1200 mg. Pediatric dose: 5 mg per kilogram of body weight. Dissolve the product in a special solvent and inject it rapidly into the patient's supine position. After the symptoms are relieved, oral antihypertensive drugs can be used for maintenance.

Adverse Reactions

1. Water and sodium retention, edema, and congestive heart failure may occur. 2. It may cause phlebitis. 3. It may cause elevated blood sugar and blood uric acid, temporary cerebral or myocardial ischemia, headache, nausea, insomnia, constipation, hearing abnormalities, rash, loss of consciousness or convulsions, etc.
