Function and Efficacy
The main effects are lipid-lowering and enzyme-lowering, anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antidiarrheal. 1. Lipid-lowering and enzyme-lowering: The total flavonoids of Astragalus and its effective parts can reduce serum cholesterol and triglycerides, increase high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, and improve various abnormal changes in blood rheology in experimental hyperlipidemia rats. Astragalus also has a significant effect of reducing alanine aminotransferase. 2. Anti-inflammatory: The experimental results show that Astragalus, the main drug in Jinsuo Gujing Pills, can significantly inhibit the formation of formaldehyde-induced joint swelling in rats, inhibit the formation of joint swelling and inflammatory granulomas caused by carrageenan, formaldehyde, and histamine glue, and can directly counteract the effect of histamine on the excitatory intestinal muscles of isolated guinea pigs, and can significantly inhibit the increase in capillary permeability caused by histamine, but it does not affect the survival time of adrenalectomized rats and the weight of the thymus and spleen of young mice. This shows that the anti-inflammatory effect of Astragalus may be related to tissue edema and increased capillary permeability caused by excessive release of histamine, and has little to do with the pituitary-adrenal system. Astragalus membranaceus can also increase the amount of lysozyme in mice and promote lymphocyte transformation. 3. Astringent and antidiarrheal: The dragon bone and oyster in this pill contain calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate. After calcium enters the blood, it can promote blood coagulation and increase the density of blood vessel walls to prevent exudation.
