Pirenzepine Hydrochloride Tablets

Function and Efficacy

This product is a selective anticholinergic drug, which has a high affinity for the muscarinic receptors of gastric parietal cells, but a low affinity for the muscarinic receptors of smooth muscle, myocardium and salivary glands, etc. Therefore, when used in general therapeutic doses, it can only inhibit gastric acid secretion, and rarely has side effects on pupils, gastrointestinal smooth muscle, heart, salivary glands and bladder muscles like other anticholinergic drugs. Increasing the dose can inhibit saliva secretion, and only large doses can inhibit gastrointestinal smooth muscle and cause tachycardia. This product cannot pass through the blood-brain barrier, so it does not affect the central nervous system. After oral, intramuscular or intravenous administration of this product, both the basal gastric acid secretion and the gastric acid secretion caused by exogenous pentagastrin and insulin are inhibited. This product has little effect on the pH of gastric juice, and mainly reduces the secretion of gastric juice (including pepsinogen and pepsin), thereby reducing the maximum gastric acid secretion and the highest acid secretion.
