Terfenadine Tablets

Function and Efficacy

This product is an H1 antagonist with specific peripheral H1 antagonism, anti-5-hydroxytryptamine, anti-cholinergic and anti-adrenaline effects, and mild bronchodilator effect. It starts to work 1 to 2 hours after administration, reaches the maximum effect 3 to 4 hours after administration, and maintains the effect for more than 12 hours. This product and its metabolites cannot pass through the blood-brain barrier, so there is basically no side effect on the central nervous system.

Ingredients

The chemical name of this drug is alpha-piperidinol-[4-(1-1 dimethylethyl)phenyl]-4-(hydroxybenzhydryl). The molecular formula is: C32H41NO2; the molecular weight is: 471.68.

Appearance

This product is white tablets.

Indication

For the treatment of seasonal and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis, urticaria and hay fever.

Usage and Dosage

Usual adult dose: Oral, 30-60 mg at a time, twice a day.

Adverse Reactions

1. Cardiovascular system: According to foreign literature reports, the following adverse reactions are rare, such as ventricular arrhythmia, torsades de pointes, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, cardiac arrest, hypotension, atrial flutter, syncope, dizziness, QTc interval prolongation, etc. Most of the above reactions are caused by drug interactions; 2. Central nervous system: such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, etc.; 3. Gastrointestinal system: such as abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, increased appetite, changes in bowel habits, etc.; 4. Others: such as dry mouth, dry nose, dry throat, rash, etc.

Precautions

1. Contraindicated in combination with certain azole antifungal drugs (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, etc.), certain macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, oleandomycin, etc.) and other drugs that seriously damage liver function; 2. Contraindicated in patients with obvious liver damage; 3. Contraindicated in patients with organic heart disease, especially patients with atrioventricular block and congenital QTc interval prolongation syndrome (Romano-Ward Syndrome); 4. Contraindicated in overdose; 5. Contraindicated in patients who are allergic to this product.
