Halometasone cream

Halometasone is a potent topical glucocorticoid drug containing halogen, which has good anti-inflammatory, anti-epidermal hyperplasia, anti-allergic, vasoconstriction and antipruritic effects. By binding to steroid receptors, it can change the synthesis of proteins corresponding to the cause of the disease; or act on inflammatory cells and lysosomes to regulate inflammatory responses. This product has no effect of inhibiting the adrenal axis; it has no carcinogenic effect. The acute oral toxicity LD50 of mice is 15000mg/kg.

The main ingredient of this product is halometasone monohydrate.

Apply a thin layer to the affected area, one to two times a day depending on the symptoms, and rub gently; if necessary, the affected area can be bandaged with a porous bandage, and a sealed bandage is usually not necessary. For patients with poor efficacy or more stubborn patients, a short-term sealed bandage can be used to enhance the efficacy. For chronic skin diseases (such as psoriasis or chronic eczema), this product should not be discontinued suddenly. It should be replaced with an emollient or another corticosteroid with a weaker effect, and the dosage of this product should be gradually reduced.

Occasionally: irritation symptoms at the application site, such as burning sensation and itching. Rarely: dry skin, erythema, skin atrophy, folliculitis, acne or pus. If severe irritation or allergic symptoms occur, treatment should be discontinued. Adverse reactions reported for topical use include: contact allergy, skin pigmentation or secondary infection. In addition, especially with long-term use, or when applied to large areas of skin or when using sealing bandages, or when applied to highly permeable skin areas such as the face and underarms, atrophic striae, atrophic changes, bleeding, perioral dermatitis or rosacea-like dermatitis, telangiectasia, purpura, or hormonal acne may occur. When applied to large areas or when using sealing bandages (especially for newborns or young children), the entry of corticosteroids into the blood circulation can produce systemic effects (especially temporary suppression of adrenal function). These effects disappear after discontinuation of this product, but acute adrenal insufficiency may occur secondary to sudden discontinuation of the drug.

Patients with bacterial and viral skin diseases (such as chickenpox, pyoderma, after vaccination, herpes simplex, herpes zoster), fungal skin diseases, syphilitic skin lesions, skin tuberculosis, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, and acne vulgaris.

Precautions for children: For infants and children, avoid long-term continuous treatment to avoid the occurrence of adrenal axis suppression. Continuous treatment should not exceed two weeks; for children under 2 years old, treatment should not exceed seven days. The skin area of the dressing should not exceed 10% of the body surface area, and sealing bandages should not be used. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: The safety evaluation of corticosteroids has been conducted, and animal experiments have been conducted specifically with halometasone. Experiments have shown that it may be potentially teratogenic or have other adverse effects on the embryo and/or young fetus. Pregnant women must weigh the pros and cons when using this product. There should be clear treatment indications, and it should not be used in large doses, should not be applied to large areas of skin (especially sealing bandages should not be used) or for long periods of time. It is not clear whether the active substances and/or their metabolites of this product are secreted into breast milk, and lactating women should use it with caution. Precautions for the elderly: It is not yet clear.

So far, no drug interactions have been reported.
