Potassium Sodium Hydrogen Citrate Granules
Function and Efficacy
Oral administration of Ulite increases urine pH and citrate excretion, and reduces urine calcium concentration. This change induced by Ulite makes it easier for stone-forming salts in the urine to crystallize. The resulting decrease in calcium ion concentration can reduce the saturation of calcium salts in the urine that can form stones. The increase in pH can increase the solubility of uric acid and cystine stones. Toxicological studies: LD50 values of grams of the drug fed to different species of animals indicate that the acute toxicity of oral Ulite is very low. Signs of poisoning are generally due to electrolyte overload, and long-term toxicity studies in rats and dogs have shown that there is no specific target organ toxicity at oral doses of up to 3000 mg/kg body weight. The increase in urine pH is attributed to the pharmacodynamic effects of the citrate complex. Animal experiments have shown that Ulite has no embryogenic potential.

Oral administration of urolate increases urine pH and citrate excretion, and decreases urine calcium concentration. This urolate-induced change makes the salts in the urine more susceptible to crystallization. The resulting decrease in calcium concentration can reduce the saturation of urine calcium salts that can form stones. The increase in pH can increase the solubility of uric acid and cystine stones. Indication
For dissolving uric acid stones and preventing the formation of new stones, as a maintenance treatment for cystine stones and cystinuria.
Usage and Dosage
Unless otherwise specified, the daily dose is 4 standard measuring spoons (each measuring spoon is 2.5g, a total of 10g granules), taken in three divided doses after meals. One measuring spoon each in the morning and at noon, and two measuring spoons in the evening. The granules can be taken with water. The pH value of fresh urine must be within the following range: Uric acid stones and uricosuric acid treatment: pH 6.2-6.8 Cystine stones: pH 7.0-8.0 If the pH value is lower than the recommended range, the evening dose needs to be increased by half a measuring spoon. If the pH value is higher than the recommended range, the evening dose needs to be reduced by half a measuring spoon. If the pH value of fresh urine is measured before taking Uraite and remains within the recommended range, the patient and the doctor can be sure that the appropriate dose has been found. Measurement of urine pH: Before taking Uraite each time, take a test strip from the test strip, moisten it with fresh urine, and then
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally mild gastrointestinal discomfort may occur.
Precautions
Potassium sodium bicitrate should not be used in patients with acute or chronic renal failure or when sodium chloride is absolutely contraindicated. Potassium sodium bicitrate is also contraindicated in patients with severe acid-base imbalance (base metabolism) or chronic urinary tract urea-degrading bacterial infections.
Drug Interactions
This medicine contains the colorant Orange S (E110), which may induce allergic reactions including asthma in susceptible individuals. Allergic reactions are more likely to occur in patients who have taken 2-acetylbenzoic acid (acetylsalicylic acid). Any increase in extracellular potassium concentration will reduce cardiac glucose metabolism, while any decrease in extracellular potassium concentration will increase the incidence of arrhythmias. Aldosterone antagonists, potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and peripheral analgesics can reduce renal potassium excretion. Remember that 1 gram of potassium sodium hydrogen citrate contains 0.172 grams or 4.4 mmol of potassium. If a low-sodium diet is required, remember that 1 gram of potassium sodium hydrogen citrate contains 0.1 grams or 4.4 mmol of sodium (equivalent to 0.26 grams of sodium chloride). Drugs containing citrate and aluminum-containing
