Tinidazole Capsules
Function and Efficacy
1 This product has high activity against protozoa and anaerobic bacteria. 2 It has antibacterial activity against Bacteroides fragilis, Fusobacterium, Clostridium, Peptococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Veillonella and Gardnerella. A concentration of 2-4 mg/L can inhibit most anaerobic bacteria; microaerophilic bacteria and Helicobacter pylori are sensitive to it; the MIC for Trichomonas vaginalis is similar to that of metronidazole, and its metabolites are more active against Gardnerella than metronidazole. 3 The mechanism of action of this product has not been fully elucidated. The nitroreductase of anaerobic bacteria plays an important role in the energy metabolism of sensitive strains. The nitro group of this product is reduced to a cytotoxin, which acts on the DNA metabolism process of bacteria and promotes the death of bacteria. Resistant bacteria often lack nitroreductase and are resistant to this product. The mechanism of this product against amoeba is to inhibit its redox reaction, break the nitrogen chain of the protozoa, and thus kill the protozoa.
Ingredients
The main ingredient of this product is tinidazole. Its chemical name is: 2-methyl-1-[2-(ethylsulfonyl)ethyl]-5-nitro-1H-imidazole. Drug category: nitroimidazoles.

Indication
1. For various anaerobic infections, such as sepsis, osteomyelitis, abdominal infection, pelvic infection, pulmonary bronchial infection, sinusitis, skin cellulitis, periodontal infection and postoperative wound infection. 2. For preoperative preventive medication for colorectal surgery, gynecological surgery and oral surgery. 3. For the treatment of intestinal and extraintestinal amebiasis, vaginal trichomoniasis, giardiasis, Gardnerella vaginitis, etc. 4. It can also be used as an alternative to metronidazole for the treatment of gastritis and peptic ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori.
Usage and Dosage
Oral: 1 Anaerobic infection: 1g once a day, double the first dose, generally 5-6 days of treatment, or determined according to the condition. 2 Prevention of postoperative anaerobic infection: 2g once a day 12 hours before surgery. 3 Protozoan infection: (1) Trichomoniasis, giardiasis: single dose of 2g once a day, 50mg/kg per child, can be repeated once every 3-5 days. (2) Intestinal amebiasis: 0.5g once a day, 2 times a day, 5-10 days of treatment; or 2g once a day, 2-3 days of treatment; 50mg/kg per child, 3 days of treatment. (3) Extraintestinal amebiasis: 2g once a day, 3-5 days of treatment.
Adverse Reactions
Adverse reactions are rare and mild, mainly nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, loss of appetite and metallic taste in the mouth, headache, dizziness, itchy skin, rash, constipation and general discomfort. In addition, there may be neutropenia, disulfiram-like reaction and dark urine. High doses can also cause epileptic seizures and peripheral neuropathy.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this product or azole drugs and those with active central nervous system diseases and blood diseases.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Not clear yet. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: This product can pass through the placenta and quickly enter the fetal circulation. Animal experiments have found that intraperitoneal administration is toxic to the fetus, while oral administration is non-toxic. There is no sufficient and strict control observation on the effect of this product on the fetus, so it should be banned within 3 months of pregnancy. Pregnant women over 3 months old should only use this product when there is a clear indication. The concentration of this product in breast milk is similar to that in blood. Animal experiments have shown that this product has a carcinogenic effect on young mice, so breastfeeding women should avoid using it. If the drug must be used, breastfeeding should be suspended, and breastfeeding can only be allowed 3 days after stopping the drug. Precautions for the elderly: Due to decreased liver function in the elderly, the pharmacokinetics of this product are changed when it is used, and the blood concentration needs to be monitored.
Drug Interactions
1 This product can inhibit the metabolism of warfarin and other oral anticoagulants, enhance their effects, and cause the prothrombin time to prolong. 2 When used in combination with drugs that induce liver microsomal enzymes such as phenytoin sodium and phenobarbital, it can accelerate the metabolism of this product, reduce the blood drug concentration, and slow down the excretion of phenytoin sodium. 3 When used in combination with drugs that inhibit the activity of liver microsomal enzymes such as cimetidine, it can slow down the metabolism and excretion of this product in the liver, prolong the blood elimination half-life (t1/2?) of this product, and the dosage should be adjusted according to the results of blood drug concentration determination. 4 This product interferes with the metabolism of disulfiram. When the two are used together, patients may experience mental symptoms after drinking. Therefore, those who have used disulfiram within 2 weeks should not use this product again. 5 This product can interfere with the results of serum aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase determinations, and can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels. 6 When used in combination with oxytetracycline, oxytetracycline can interfere with the effect of this product in clearing vaginal Trichomonas.
