Compound clobetasol propionate ointment
Function and Efficacy
This product is an anti-keratinization drug. Clobetasol propionate can inhibit the proliferation of epidermal keratinocytes and T cells, inhibit the production of interleukins-1, -2, -6, and -8, and inhibit leukocyte chemotaxis; all-trans retinoic acid can inhibit epidermal type I transglutaminase, promote keratinocyte differentiation, and also inhibit keratinocyte proliferation and leukocyte chemotaxis. The common efficacy of the two main components in the compound is additive or enhanced synergistic, and there is no antagonistic effect between them. After the guinea pig skin was externally applied with preparations containing the compound or single ingredients in this prescription, 36% (9/25) of the male animals in the drug-treated group developed testicular seminiferous tubule atrophy and reduced spermatogenic epithelial layer under excessive percutaneous absorption, which is related to the retinoic acid component, and its mechanism remains to be identified.

Usage and Dosage
Apply topically to skin lesions, twice a day, or as directed by your doctor.
Adverse Reactions
Topical application of 0.025% retinoic acid may cause skin irritation symptoms such as erythema, desquamation, dryness, and itching, which mostly occur within the first month and then gradually alleviate. Combination with clobetasol propionate can reduce the irritation reaction, but long-term topical use of the potent corticosteroid clobetasol propionate can cause skin atrophy.

Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Not suitable for infants and children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Although there are no reports of teratogenicity caused by topical retinoic acid, women of childbearing age should not conceive during medication. It is recommended to suspend medication during lactation. Precautions for the elderly: Same as for non-elderly patients.
