Risperidone Microspheres for Injection
Function and Efficacy
The hydrolysis, drug diffusion and polymer disintegration process of Hengde microspheres form a unique release characteristic. Within 3 weeks of the first injection, almost no drug will be released (1%, so within 3 weeks of the first injection of Hengde, when the drug effect has not yet been exerted, the patient must be given enough antipsychotic drugs.) Hengde in plasma is maintained at a therapeutic concentration in weeks 4-6, and the maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) of the active ingredient appears around weeks 4-5. The drug plasma concentration will drop rapidly after the 6th week. Injection once every two weeks is the most ideal dosing interval for Hengde, and a stable concentration is reached after 8 weeks (after 4 injections).
Indication
It is used to treat depression, acute and chronic schizophrenia, and other various psychotic states with obvious positive symptoms (such as hallucinations, delusions, disordered thinking, hostility, suspicion) and obvious negative symptoms (such as slow response, emotional indifference and social indifference, few words). It can also be used to treat emotional symptoms related to schizophrenia (such as depression, guilt, anxiety)
Usage and Dosage
This product is injected once every two weeks by deep intramuscular injection in the buttocks. The injection should be given alternately in the left and right hemibuttocks. It should not be given intravenously. The original oral antipsychotic should be continued within 3 weeks after the first injection of this product.
Adverse Reactions
In clinical trials, within the therapeutic dose range of this product, the following drug-related adverse reactions were reported, including common (>1%) weight gain (2.7 kg gain over 1 year), depression, fatigue and extrapyramidal symptoms. When the dose of this product reached 50 mg, the incidence of extrapyramidal symptoms in patients was comparable to that in the placebo group.
