Tannic acid is a strong immobilization agent that immobilizes many proteins and carbohydrate derivatives, as well as a mordant that enhances the absorption of heavy metals (such as uranium, lead), thus enhancing the contrast of samples, especially the extracellular membrane, elastic fibers, Cell connections, muscle fibers, etc. Due to the slow permeation rate of tannic acid, it is usually used only as an additive for fast penetration fixators. There was no fixed usage of tannic acid. 0.5-2.0% tannin and 0.5mg/ml saponins (saponin, increased the osmotic rate of tannin) could be used together with 2.5-4.0% glutaraldehyde.
