    Chemical properties:
Yellow to orange yellow crystalline powder, slightly smelly, slightly bitter. Melting point 280°C (decomposition). Easily soluble in alkaline solution and sodium chloride solution, slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform. The aqueous solution is yellow-green, and the saturated aqueous solution is neutral. It has good heat resistance and acid resistance. It is easily damaged in alkaline solution or irradiated by ultraviolet rays, and is also unstable to reducing agents. The rats were intraperitoneally injected with LD50560mg/kg and ADI0~0.5mg/kg (FAO/WHO, 1994).

    use:
Vitamin B2 is a vitamin that promotes the growth and development of the body and plays an important role in the metabolic process of the human body. When lacking, it is susceptible to conjunctivitis, angular cheilitis, glossitis. Our country stipulates that it can be used for table salt, the usage is 100~150mg/kg; the maximum usage in solid beverage is 10~13mg/kg; the usage in infant food is 4~8mg/kg; it is used in cereals and their products The dosage is 3.0~5.0mg/kg; the dosage is 1~2mg/kg in drinking liquid and milk beverage. Visible or ultraviolet radiation of alkaline solutions causes the formation of lumiflavine ... whereas irradiation of acid or neutral solutions gives rise to the production of lumichrome ... togther with varying amounts of lumiflavine|Sensitive to alkalies; stable to mineral acids in the dark|In solution, riboflavin has an intense greenish-yellow flourescence|In alkaline solution it is readily soluble but quite unstable to heat and to light forming lumiflavin, a fluorescent degradation product. Riboflavin is nore stable to heat in acid solution, particularly from pH 1.0 to 6.5 but upon irradiation forms lumichrome. Riboflavin is readily adsorbed from acid or neutral solution on such agents as frankonite, fuller's earth, and certain zeolites, and eluted with acetone or pyridine solutions.|For more Other Experimental Properties (Complete) data for Riboflavin (6 total), please visit the HSDB record page.
