1. Physical and chemical properties:
1.1 Molecular formula: C18H15Bi
1.2 Molecular Weight: 440.3
1.3 Solubility: Insoluble in water, but dissolved in anhydrous alcohol and n-heptane.
1.4 Stability and reactivity: Stable at normal temperature and pressures, but reacts with moisture, strong oxidant and strong ultraviolet light.
2. Technical indexes:Item Index Purity,% ≥97.5 Melting point,ºC ≥77.0 Bi content.% 47.0-47.9 Insoluble in acetone content,% ≤0.10 Mg content,% ≤0.003 Total halogen content(in Cl),% ≤0.05 Appearance White or milky crystal,
no visible impurities3. Application: Triphenyl bismuth (TPB) has been used as the curing catalyst of HTPB propellant. TPB could decrease curing temperature and reduce curing time of the propellant, as well as it has no damaging effect on the performance and mechanics properties. The dosage of TPB is 0.006%-0.05% of total weight for the propellant. Curing time is a week in 50ºC. TPB can be also used as the catalyst of the polymerization for ethyne into cyclooctatetraene, formaldehyde, the curing agent for polycyclochlorides, and other monomers etc.
4. Safety instructions: Toxic by ingestion and inhalation. Eye and skin contact can cause inflammation. Operation must be installed with rubber gloves, a respirator and eye protection by wearing protective clothing.
5. Packing: Sealed, hard, cycloidal plastic case. Net weight 500g or 1000g per bottle. Packing can be adjusted according to the clients' requests.
6. Storage: Stored in a cool, ventilated place. The shelf life is 12 months after manufacturer date. It is still available if retest result is qualified after expire date.
7. Transportation: Should prevent rain drenched, sunning and ultraviolet during transportation. Keep away from strong oxidants.
