Its biological function is to inhibit trypsin, chymotrypsin, hyaluronidase, plasmin, elastase, etc. it also inhibits thrombin, urokinase and other enzymes. It is a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor. Clinical significance
(1) increased: mainly in tissue injury, infectious diseases (bacterial, viral), malignant tumors, viral hepatitis, collagen disease, pregnancy, surgery, drugs (estrogens, oral contraceptives, adrenal steroids, prostaglandins, etc.), typhus and so on.
(2) Decrease: mainly seen in heredity α 1-AT deficiency due to α Liver cirrhosis caused by 1-AT deficiency, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, severe hepatitis, nephrotic syndrome, protein loss gastroenteropathy, malnutrition, immature infants, early rejection of renal transplantation, etc.
