Introduction:

   Horsetail is perennial herb,with procumbent root,black or dark brown. Stems erect on the ground,2 types of stem. Nutrient stems birth after the spores stems withered,  15 to 60 centimeters high, with 6 to 15 ridges. Leaves degenerate, the lower part is become sheath, sheath tooth is lanceolate, black, margin gray, membranous; branch is whorled, in solid, with 3 to 4 ridges, single or re-branching. Spore stems sprout in early spring, often purple-brown, succulent, unbranched, sheath long and large. porangium sprout from June to June, terminal, blunt,2 to 3.5 centimeters long; spore leaf in hexagonal and shield-shaped, spiral

arrangement, the edge with growing sporangia.

  The above ground parts of horsetail are used to make medicine.Horsetail is used for fluid retention, kidney and bladder stones, urinary tract infections, the horsetail inability to control urination and general disturbances of the kidney and bladder.

Horsetail is applied directly to the skin to treat wounds and burns.There have been reports of horsetail products being contaminated with a related plant called Equisetum palustre.Horsetail contains chemicals that can poison cattle, but toxicity in people has not been proven.
