Brief Introduction:

Sodium Alpha-olefin Sulfonate, also called AOS 92%, is an anionic surfactant with high foaming and good hydrolysis stability.
It has excellent resistance to hard water, low toxicity, mildness, low irritation and good biodegradability, especially when used in phosphorus-free detergents.

Application in Laundry Detergents:

Decontamination tests show that LAS and AOS show good synergy in both phosphorus-containing powder and phosphorus-free powder.

AOS and enzymes have good compatibility. Determine and compare the residual enzyme activities in detergent solutions containing domestic proteases and imported proteases (such as Savnase), over time, the residual enzyme activity of pure LAS as the anionic active component was lower, while the residual enzyme activity of detergent solutions in which LAS was partially or completely replaced by AOS was higher.

AOS has a good decontamination effect on sebum dirt, oily and powdery dirt. LAS has superior decontamination power against oil/granules, non-ions such as fatty alcohol ethers are most suitable for washing dust, sebum and dirt. Only by combining the two can a good decontamination effect be achieved.

AOS is particularly suitable for use in phosphorus-free laundry detergent formulations. AOS has obvious resistance to hard water compared to LAS, and the compounding effect of AOS and zeolite is better than LAS. Phosphorus-free laundry detergents that partially replace LAS with AOS have less ash deposits on fabrics after washing than phosphorus-free laundry detergents that use LAS alone, and are less likely to harden and turn yellow.

Application in Soap Field:

By adding AOS to soaps with sodium fatty acid as the main ingredient, various properties of the soap are improved, including enhanced foaming power, increased resistance to hard water, enhanced flexibility, and resistance to cracking.

Adding AOS can improve the solubility of soap in water, and the wetting and foaming power of soap at low temperatures will also be rapidly improved.

Applications in Liquid Detergents:

Due to its characteristics in stain removal, resistance to hard water, and viscosity, AOS is widely used in liquid detergents with highly active components. Due to the high irritation of LAS, many detergent products no longer use LAS as an active ingredient. AOS has low irritation and good biodegradability, so it is a more suitable substitute. Since AOS has a certain softness function, it can effectively improve the smoothness of the formula in liquid washing of silk and wool clothing.

Applications in Personal Cleaning Products:

AOS is widely used in shower gel, shampoo, hand soap and soap-based formulation systems. AOS is as mild as AES, while LAS and AS are much more irritating than AOS. Therefore, AOS has a wide range of uses in personal cleaning products.

AOS is extremely stable under acidic conditions. Normal human skin is slightly acidic (pH value is about 5.5), so it is suitable to use AOS as a component of personal washing products. Shampoos with AOS as the main active ingredient have better foaming properties than K12. AOS has the advantages of rapid foaming, fine and rich foam, and easy rinsing. It has good compounding properties with cocamidopropyl betaine, cocoyl monoethanolamine, and monoalkyl phosphates in personal cleansing products.

Applications in other areas:

AOS is widely used in textile printing and dyeing industry, petrochemicals and tertiary oil recovery, industrial cleaning, etc. AOS can be used as concrete density improver, foam wall board, and fire-fighting foam agent. It can also be used as pesticide emulsifier, wetting agent, etc.
