Physical properties

The appearance of PVB resin is white spherical porous particles or powder, its specific gravity is 1.05, and the bulk density is about 018 g/ml to 0.30 g/ml. Soluble in alcohol ketone, ester and other solvents, but insoluble in hydrocarbon solvents.Because of the difference in molecular weight and structure, the glass transition temperature (Tg) is between 50 C and 80 C. By adding an appropriate amount of plasticizer, the glass transition temperature (Tg) can be reduced to below 10 C.

PVB resin has excellent film-forming property, and the film-forming has good tensile strength, tear strength, wear resistance and elasticity. Especially when it is applied to the intermediate film of safety glass, the glass has strong impact resistance and penetration resistance, and so far it can not be replaced by other materials.

Chemical property

PVB resin has good water resistance, alkali resistance and oil resistance.lt is widely used in printing inks and coatings because it contains more hydroxyl groups and has good dispersibility to pigments. lt is precisely because of the existence of hydroxyl group that it can bridge with phenolic resin, epoxy resin, melamine,dialdehyde compounds to achieve solvent resistance, water resistance and improve the performance of thermosetting resin.

In addition its chemical structure also contains hydrophobic group aretate group and hydrophilic hydroxyl group,so it has good adhesion with glass,metal, plastic, leather and wood.
