Benzophenone-3 (2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone) occurs naturally in some flowering plants. It is commercially synthesized as a sunscreen for use in lotions, conditioners, and cosmetics. It is also used as a UV stabilizer in plastic surface coatings and polymers.Benzophenone-3 is a common ingredient in sun-blocking agents.

Oxybenzone is a broad-spectrum ultraviolet absorber with the advantages of high absorption rate, non-toxic, no teratogenic effect, good light and heat stability, etc. It can absorb UV-A and UV-B at the same time. It is a Class I sunscreen approved by the U.S. FDA. It is widely used in sunscreen cosmetics such as sunscreen cream, cream, honey, lotion, oil, etc., and can also be used as an anti tarnish agent for products that change color due to photosensitivity
