What is Magnesium Hypophosphite ?

Magnesium Hypophosphite ( CAS 10377-57-8 ),white crystal, there are fluorescent.Show neutral or weak acid soluble in water, its aqueous solution, insoluble in ethanol and aether.Relative density 1.59 (12.5/4 ºC).Easy weathering in dry air, and 100 ºC when lose 5 molecular crystal water.At 180 ºCanhydride, continue to heat, the decomposition released flammable and poisonous phosphine gas. It can be used in medicine, also can be used as analytical reagent.

Magnesium hypophosphite is as reducing agent, it can be used in pharmaceutical, chemical plating and other fields.

However, the major use of magnesium Hypophosphite has been for the treatment of calcium and magnesium deficiency in cattle, swine, goats and sheep. This salt has been approved by numerous Agencies, including the FDA and Veterinary Association for this purpose. It is injected as a pure solution along with a sugar, calcium gluconate.

Specification

White crystal with fluorescence. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution is neutral or weakly acidic, insoluble in ethanol and ether. The relative density is 1.59 (12.5 / 4 ℃). It is easily weathered in dry air and loses 5 molecules of crystal water at 100 ℃. At 180 ℃, it becomes anhydrous, and if it continues to heat, flammable and extremely toxic phosphine gas will be released.
