Epithalon (also known as Epitalon, Epithalone, or AEDG peptide) is a synthetic tetrapeptide composed of four amino acids: Alanine (Ala), Glutamic Acid (Glu), Aspartic Acid (Asp), and Glycine (Gly) – hence the sequence AEDG . It is a synthetic analog of Epithalamin, a crude polypeptide complex originally extracted from the bovine pineal gland .

The peptide was developed in the 1980s by a research team led by Professor Vladimir Khavinson of the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology and has since been the subject of extensive research in cell cultures, animals, and humans . Over the past 25 years, Epithalon has been extensively studied for its geroprotective, antioxidant, and neuroendocrine properties .
