      Triacontanol, also known as bee pollen alcohol, is a commonly used plant growth regulator in agriculture, like brassinolide, chlormequat, and sodium nitrophenolate. It has an effect of increasing the yield of crops such as rice, wheat, cotton, soybeans, corn, and peanuts. In 1974, Khanma et al. identified a straight-chain fatty alcohol, 1-triacontanol [OH3(CH2)28CH2OH], from green tea. It was later called "triacontanol" and can be extracted from tea by-products. This substance can be used as a foliar nutrient fertilizer for crops. It can be sprayed with a concentration of 0.5ppm during the one-leaf stage of tea buds, which has an increase in yield of about 20%, and can increase the proportion of normal buds and leaves and increase the content of amino acids, tea polyphenols, and water extracts. In 1975, Rees (S.K.Ries) discovered triacontanol in the crude extract of alfalfa leaves. This product is often combined with higher fatty acids to form esters and is commonly found in insect wax or plant wax. It is generally extracted from beeswax, bran wax, or cane wax, also known as beeswax alcohol. Triacontanol has a variety of physiological functions that can affect the growth, differentiation and development of plants. The main manifestations are: it can enhance the activity of enzymes, promote seed germination, and increase the germination rate; enhance photosynthetic intensity, increase chlorophyll content, and increase dry matter accumulation; promote crops to absorb mineral elements, increase protein and sugar content, and improve product quality. It can also promote the growth of roots, leaves, and flower buds of crops; increase tillering, promote early maturity, protect flowers and fruits, and improve fruit setting rate; promote crops to absorb water, reduce evaporation, and increase crop drought resistance. Triacontanol is suitable for seaweed cultivation such as kelp and laver, and for increasing the yield of various crops such as peanuts, corn, wheat, and tobacco.
