Chlorella is a ubiquitous unicellular green alga belonging to the phylum Chlorella. It is a spherical unicellular freshwater alga with a diameter of 3 to 8 microns. It is one of the earliest life forms on Earth. It appeared more than 2 billion years ago, and is an efficient photosynthetic plant that thrives on photosynthetic autotrophic growth and is widely distributed.
Chlorella vulgaris is a class of green algae belonging to the family Chlorellaceae. Unicellular algae, often solitary, also have multicellular aggregation.
