DESCRIPTION

Abiraterone is a cytochrome CYP17(17α-hydroxylase /C17, 20-lyase) inhibitor that is hydrolyzed to produce abiraterone. Abiraterone acetate reduces testosterone production by inhibiting cytochrome CYP17 and is indicated for patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) who have received previous chemotherapy containing paclitaxel. Clinical trials demonstrated that abiraterone combined with prednisone significantly extended overall survival in patients with metastatic prostate cancer who had previously received docetaxel Chemicalbook.
