    Paclitaxel is a monomeric diterpenoid compound extracted from the bark of the natural plant Taxus. It is a complex secondary metabolite and the only known drug that can promote microtubule polymerization and stabilize polymerized microtubules. Isotope tracing indicates that paclitaxel only binds to polymerized microtubules and does not react with unpolymerized microtubule protein dimers. After contact with paclitaxel, cells accumulate a large number of microtubules inside the cell, which interfere with various functions of the cell, especially stopping cell division at the mitotic stage and blocking normal cell division. Through II- III clinical studies, paclitaxel is mainly applicable to ovarian cancer and breast cancer, and also has certain effects on lung cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, head and neck cancer, lymphoma, and brain tumor.

    So far, there are only two types of paclitaxel raw materials on the international market: one comes from various types of yew bark; Another method is to extract "10 berry gibberellin" from European ornamental yew branches, and then semi synthesize it into docetaxel (docetaxel), which has a structure very similar to naturally extracted paclitaxel. Both of these active pharmaceutical ingredients are popular in the international pharmaceutical market and have long been in short supply.
