niobium pentachloride

Niobium pentachloride is a yellow white monoclinic crystal with a melting point of 204.7 ℃ and a boiling point of 254 ℃. It is a strong Lewis acid that can promote various organic synthesis reactions. The application of niobium (V) chloride, also known as niobium pentachloride, can be used to prepare niobium pentoxide/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite negative electrode materials or a highly permeable nanoinfrared excitation medium that can efficiently absorb infrared short waves. Application: Used to form mixed chloroaromatic oxides, such as [Nb (OC6H3-26-i-Pr2) 2Cl3] 2, which can form pyridine or phosphine adducts with six coordinate twisted geometries. Production method: Synthesis device 1 for niobium pentabromide - auxiliary receiving tube; 2- Product; 3- External heater; 4—Br2; The 5-N2 method [101102] can be used to prepare this compound by reacting niobium metal with chlorine gas. Place a sample boat containing 10g niobium powder into a borosilicate glass reaction tube with an inner diameter of 25mm and a length of 900mm. Place the sample boat at approximately one-third of the length from the gas inlet, replace the air inside the tube with rare gas, and then replace it with dry chlorine gas. When chlorine gas flows into the reaction tube at a rate of about 200mL/min and the sample is heated to around 300 ℃, niobium pentachloride crystallizes yellow at room temperature in the reaction tube. The discharged gas is introduced into a chlorine absorption bottle (containing a mixed aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide and sodium bicarbonate) and completely absorbed. After the reaction is complete, cool down and replace chlorine gas with rare gas. Remove niobium pentachloride from the rare gas flow, or melt seal the two ends of the niobium (V) chloride precipitation site in the reaction tube (in this case, it is advisable to pre make a neck with an inner diameter of 10mm on the reaction tube). In addition, niobium pentoxide and carbon with a molar ratio of 6 times can be mixed, and chlorine gas with a flow rate of 200-300mL/min can be introduced into the sample for chlorination reaction at 500-700 ℃. By heating the mixture of niobium pentachloride and niobium trichloride oxide NbOCl3 with chlorine gas to a carbon layer at 600 ℃, niobium pentachloride can also be produced
