Forskolin, also known as the "second messenger", is widely present in various tissues of the body, affecting various aspects of cell activities, and has the effects of promoting fat and glycogenolysis, myocardial contraction, smooth muscle relaxation, and inhibiting platelet aggregation. According to literature reports, FSK and its analogs are laurdanoid diterpenoid compounds, which are direct agonists of adenylate cyclase. They do not pass through receptors or inhibit phosphodiesterase, but directly increase the concentration in cells to produce physiological activity. Pharmacological studies have shown that forskolin is the only strongest adenylate cyclase activator known to be obtained from plants. By directly stimulating adenylate cyclase, it increases the concentration of cyclic adenosine in various tissue cells, thereby participating in the regulation of various cell functions and playing a wide range of regulatory roles in the body. The main effects of FSK are to lower blood pressure, relieve pain, dilate bronchioles, dilate blood vessels, and strengthen the heart. The active ingredient FSK has important medical effects, including lowering blood pressure, relaxing smooth muscles, increasing the release of thyroid hormones, promoting digestive tract secretion, and reducing intraocular pressure. India is used for digestive system diseases, such as dispelling wind, removing flatulence, and treating abdominal pain. It is used for circulatory system diseases, treating congestive heart failure, insufficient coronary blood flow, improving cerebral blood circulation, relieving pain, and treating asthma and tracheitis. Currently, Forskolin is clinically used to treat cardiovascular diseases, glaucoma, bronchial asthma, etc. At the same time, it can also regulate various tissues by activating adenylate cyclase and is an activator of other drugs. Product Detail

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Forskolin is a potent adenylate cyclase activator, with IC50 and EC50 of 41 nM and 0.5 μM for type I adenylyl cyclase, respectively.
Forskolin is a labdane diterpenoid isolated from the Indian Coleus plant. It has a role as a plant metabolite, an anti-HIV agent, a protein kinase A agonist, an adenylate cyclase agonist, an antihypertensive agent and a platelet aggregation inhibitor. It is a labdane diterpenoid, an acetate ester, an organic heterotricyclic compound, a triol, a cyclic ketone and a tertiary alpha-hydroxy ketone.|Potent activator of the adenylate cyclase system and the biosynthesis of cyclic AMP. From the plant Coleus forskohlii. Has antihypertensive, positive inotropic, platelet aggregation inhibitory, and smooth muscle relaxant activities; also lowers intraocular pressure and promotes release of hormones from the pituitary gland.
