Colorless or yellowish crystalline powder. It has a strong benzone aroma. It is less soluble in water and can be dissolved in organic solvents such as ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide.

Purpose:
It has been widely used in the field of organic synthesis. It can be used as catalyst, intermediate or raw material to synthesize other organic compounds.

Preparation:
To be obtained by a two-step synthesis. Dimethyl acetylbutylbenzoate was obtained by transesterification of 4-acetonoxyeacetate with dimethyl phthalate. Subsequently, the compound underwent amidation to form 5-butyloxazol-2, 4-dione.
