Chemical property

Colorless to amber liquid. It has a light scent of citrus. Almost insoluble in water, but miscible with ethanol, 2-propanol, propylene glycol, and cottonseed oil. The content of industrial isomer is 85 ~ 95%, d24 is 0.996 ~ 0.998, and the viscosity is 13.3 cm Chemicalbook at 30℃. The acute oral LD50 of male rats was about 2000mg/kg. Feed containing 1% DEET had no adverse effect on rats for 200 days; Undiluted compounds can irritate mucous membranes, but daily use of repellent concentrations of DEET on the face and arms causes only mild irritation.
