GS-441524 is a small molecule with a scientific name of nucleoside triphosphate competitive inhibitor that exhibits strong antiviral activity against many RNA viruses. Can inhibit the replication of several different types of RNA viruses.
GS-441524 is phosphorylated intracellularly by cellular kinases to nucleoside monophosphate (NMP), which is then converted into the active triphosphate metabolite (NTP structural analog). In viral RNA synthesis, active NTP structural analogues act as competitors of natural nucleoside triphosphates and compete with natural nucleosides (ATP, TTP, CTP, GTP) to participate in RNA transcription. When the GS-441524 molecule is inserted into the transcription product, transcription will be terminated prematurely, thereby inhibiting the viral RNA transcription process.
