3. Ethylene oxide, an organic compound with the formula C2H4O, is a toxic carcinogen that has previously been used to make fungicides. Ethylene oxide is flammable and explosive, and is not easy to transport long distances, so it has a strong regional character.

Epoxylene, also known as ethylene oxide or ethane, is abbreviated as EO in English. It is an organic chemical with toxicity, flammability and explosiveness. Its molecular formula is C2H4O and it is one of the simplest cyclic oxides. At normal temperature and pressure, it is a gas with a sweet smell [4]. Below 10.7℃, it is a colorless and fluid substance that is easy to flow, with the smell of ether. Its vapor is irritating to the eyes and nasal mucosa. It is miscible with water, ethanol, alcohol and ether. Its chemical properties are very active and it can undergo addition reactions with many compounds to form explosive mixtures with air. The explosive limit is 3% - 100% (volume). Epoxylene is a highly toxic substance. The allowable concentration in the air is 100 PPM. Inhalation of epoxylene can cause anesthesia poisoning.

It can also be used as fuel for jet propulsion such as rockets.

Purpose

Safety

Ethylene oxide forms formaldehyde, ethylene glycol and oxalic acid in the body. It has anesthetic effects on the central nervous system and stimulates mucous membranes, damaging the cytoplasm of cells. The LC50 for mice inhalation is 1.5 ng/L, and for rats it is 2.63 mg/L. After inhalation of high concentration vapor by humans, they show anesthesia symptoms, causing nausea and vomiting. In case of poisoning, one should immediately evacuate the site and undergo rescue treatments such as oxygen inhalation and artificial respiration. For those with skin contamination, rinse with a large amount of water or 3% boric acid solution for more than 15 minutes, keep warm and send to the hospital for treatment.
The equipment should be sealed to prevent leakage, spillage, dripping and evaporation. Enhance ventilation facilities. Operators should wear protective equipment. In high concentration environments, they should wear activated carbon masks or compressed air, compressed anaerobic breathing masks. Near the device, there should be water taps and shower facilities. The maximum allowable concentration in the air is 0.001 mg/m3.
This product is flammable, explosive and toxic. It is packaged in special steel cylinders or pressurized containers. Each cylinder contains 300 - 350 kg and has a pressure of 1.0 Mpa. Avoid high temperatures and direct sunlight exposure. Store at low temperatures. When transported by car, it should be carefully placed and rolled is strictly prohibited.
